Produced from a single convective storm today, during this thunderstorm, a few tornados started form the island of Gravia towards Arillas .
A tornado or Twister which is a violent rotating column of air that is contact with both the ground as well as a cumulonimbus cloud. The base of a tornado that touches the water is usually surrounded by a cloud of waterspray , giving the tornado its color. Without the water, a tornado is transparent. A tornado or twister, depending on its size can have wind speeds between 40mph and 360mph.
We spot small tornados rarely… that normally happens when the temperature in the ground or the sea is much higher than in the sky while a storm is approaching. They usually disappear as soon as they come near the shore (that’s what happened today) but there are times that we have seen them crossing the land.
